Well a Taiwanese touch panel manufacture has confirmed its large supply of large panel monitors to Apple with shipments set to start in the 2nd half of the year.
According to the Commercial Times in China, the company has confirmed it has struck a deal with Apple with Quanta Computer lined up to make the units themselves.
Hmm we will see.

The debate continues..
I think that by now everyone really understands the limitations of netbooks over notebooks but here is a little review of each of the netbooks out there from different manufactures.
Dell Inspirion Mini 9 - Nice looking, easy to carry, Preloaded with Windows XPP, 8GB SSD 512 of memory and 1.6 processor. The battery will run for 2 hours and 40 min before shutting down. The 8.9″ LCD is ok with the small keyboard with is a little clunky. If you don’t mind the little keyboard with your Blackberry or iphone you will not have a problem with this little keyboard. It weighs less then 2lbs. It gets pretty hot after a couple of hours. It looks like a real notebook, like the others but it really is not. If you try to do 2 or more things like open a word document and listen to a video on you tube it is really pushing the systems limits. There is a 1.3 megapixel camera built in but if you try to activate the webcam on Skype it takes 11 minutes. NO LIE!! 11 minutes. No thanks on the camera. I cannot wait 11 minutes for anything. I cannot use a PC without running 10 or more applications. If you do not mind only using 1 application at at time, this might be a good fit for you. Or this might be a good machine to travel with on an overnight trip where you do not plan to do any work.
Asus N10Jc - These guys were actually the first to introduce the notebooks.. Congrats Asus…. The Asus is a little heavier then the others. 3 lbs and 8 ounces. It is also a little more expensive then the other netbooks out there. Asus says that it warranty goes a step beyond what what we have seen for netbooks regarding coverage for accidental damage. It is also one of the first netbooks out there that has the biometric security as a fingerprint and a facail recognition reader. It also has an Express Card slot & a Webcam. It is fairly fashionable with a glossy gold and chrome colored clamshell with rounded corners.
H-P Mini 2040- Nice comfortable keyboard.. decent performance & wide screen viewing… In addition, H-P has a price on this below the $500 price point.. Good stuff!!! It is not the best performing netbook but it is not the worst either. The battery lasts 5 full hours which is decent. The weight is 2lbs 5 ounces with the 6 cell in. I like that the shift keys are there as well as all of the other normal keyboard keys that are suppose to be there. The 10.1″ screen is very bright & easy on the eyes. Sound through the speakers is fine as is the built on webcam. It is loaded with XP Home edition with service pack 2 and when trying to log onto the wireless network that presented WPA2 encryption there was a small problem. You can download & install Microsoft’s hot fix for that OS. Not really a deal breaker but good to be aware of those extra steps. H-P please take note & fix that so that users don’t have to go through this after buying your product….! Of course, you can also get the Linux edition (KR922UT#ABA)
Ok good stuff.

Every PC manufacture that you talk to will tell you that Netbooks are NOT real notebooks.. they have less processing power, some don’t have CD rom drives and modems (if you still need those..) and they are not to be replaced with TRUE notebooks…
Well.. what do you think? What do you use your notebook for? Are you using it for a full function notebook.. ? Do you travel with ALL of your key company documents?? Or do you use your notebook simply to access email & the Internet?
Big tech suppliers remain heavily reliant on sales of high powered, high priced laptops to drive profits. Profit margins are razor thin on the netbooks.
So do you take the advice of the PC manufactures not to use netbooks for notebooks..? Hmmm
In 2008, computer makers shipped 9.9 million netbooks.. making it one of the hottest consumer electronic products of the year.
But TRUE, they are not REAL notebooks.. It just depends on what you are using the notebook for..
Next year, Microsoft Vista & Windows 7 will be available on netbooks.
