Washington, D.C., and the New York metro region are the best places to look for IT jobs, outdistancing Silicon Valley and other tech-heavy regions, according to the Dice Report which tracks IT hiring trends.
D.C. is a very strong market, in part because the Obama administration is moving forward on transparency and relying on tech-heavy programs to help push the economic recovery forward. There are 50,000 job postings every day in the region, according to Dice. New York remains a strong market to get a job even though demand is off 44 percent because of the economic meltdown on Wall Street. Dice still clocks more than 5,000 open positions on any given day.
Tom Silver, Dice’s executive vice president, told eWeek that both Washington, D.C., and the New York metropolitan area are “major technology job centers.” And a security clearance is like gold in the nation’s capital, he said. “The stability of budgets in both government agencies and the contractors that serve the federal government is most likely the key differentiator versus other parts of the country,” Silver said.

Could you or your company use some of that $800 billion the FEDS are using to prop up failed/failing financial institutions, struggling automotive firms and the 10 million American families who can pay their mortgages but opt not to because their homes are worth less then the value of their mortgage?
Oh my I am getting a little political today..
Well CNBC Chicago correspondent Rick Santelli is fed up with the areas of Fed stimulus focus and last week called for a “Chicago Tea Party” revolt in this broadcast.
While Santelli was keying his comments to building frustration among American consumers, the question is about YOUR business and YOUR perspective. Because we all are affected a little here yo.
Many now say the recession will continue until the fall of 2010. Will your business be smaller when this “recession” comes to a close? Will you still have your job? Is Santelli right? Is America throwing good money against bad? What should the Feds be doing that could help your business?
Who the heck knows.. but in the meantime a Chicago Tea Party sounds like a good idea for now.
BTW I am in Disney World this week.. and there are NO signs of a recession down here. There ARE companies and people that saved up money thoughout the years and they are thriving. If your train is going the wrong direction, just jump off and hop on another.
